Bakery & Ice Cream Sector Exceeds Expectation by 62.5% at HOTELEX Shanghai 2014

SHANGHAI, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ice cream revenue in Asia was USD 12 billion in 2012, with a total of USD 4 billion coming from the Chinese market shares. On the other hand, the growth rate of the bakery market in China increases by 10% every year. The industry scale is expected to reach USD 21.26 billion (RMB130 billion) in 2013. Both ice cream and bakery industries are expected to sustain development for the next 30 years.

As a main part of HOTELEX, the Bakery and Ice Cream sector attracted many well-known exhibitors such as Carpigiani, Fabbri, Kolb, and Sinmag. The exhibition consisted of ice cream equipment, ice cream material, ice cream showcase, bakery appliance, and others. Professional visitors from bakery shops, ice cream shops, and pizza shops saw more than 10,000 people, making up 12 percent of the total visitors. The exhibition space for the Bakery and Ice Cream sector in 2014 edition will reach 13,000 square meters, which is 62.5 percent more than 2013 edition's 8,000 square meters.

What's more, the China Gelato Championship and China Pizza Master Competition helped engage both exhibitors and visitors in a more creative way.

Being an important part of the bakery industry, pizza establishes a new culture in China in recent years with many top international pizza chain stores' entry into the Chinese market. In line with this, the 2014 China Pizza Master Competition will be launched at HOTELEX Shanghai, taking over 300 square meters. The competition is expected to leverage the onsite experience for exhibitors and visitors incorporated with international media coverage. Meanwhile, audience can enjoy watching the whole process of pizza-making, and freshly made pizza can be tasted on-site.

Meanwhile, the 2013 China Gelato Championship concluded with success. The competition was co-organized by Carpigiani and Fabbri, which are two leading gelato ingredient and equipment brands in Italy. It is also strongly endorsed by the Embassy of Italy in China, Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, and Masters of Italian Gelateria (MGI). The competition gained strong support from major companies and brands, including Carpigiani Shanghai Branch, Fabbri (Shanghai) Food Trading Co., Ltd, IFI, Nestle Professional, Scotsman Ice Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, Qingdao Haier Special Freezer Co., Ltd., and HOCRES (Shanghai) Industry Co., Ltd.
