BEIJING, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The China Guide will welcome many overseas visitors to Beijing this October as runners flock to the Mainland for the 2009 Beijing International Marathon. This event has been held annually since 1986 and previous years have had close to 30,000 entrants.

The excitement for the event stems in part from the infamous starting point, Tiananmen Square. Runners will have the chance to explore Beijing's scenery by competing in the mini, half or full marathon. The Beijing International Marathon is the highest level in China and draws many foreign participants and supporters; "Holding an annual marathon in Beijing is great as it creates a new and exciting course for runners as well as invites them to visit a booming city full of culture and beauty," remarks Judy Huang, Travel Manager at The China Guide. "The marathon destination will encourage participants to make a holiday out of their trip."

The China Guide recognizes the physical and mental strength required for marathon runners and is excited to show participants the easier side to traveling Beijing. For post run R&R Judy says, "We offer relaxing custom tours which focus on sightseeing while avoiding unwanted shopping excursions," adding that they can include spa packages or foot massages with any itinerary, a great way to unwind after the big run. "Beijing can be as exciting or relaxed as a traveler desires and the city is the perfect place for a

post-marathon celebration."
