BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Red Bend Software, the leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM), today announced that its MSM solution will be deployed this year in Android smartphones sold to mobile consumers in China and international markets. Software platform provider Borqs International Holding Corp. has adopted Red Bend's vCurrent(R) Mobile firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating software and vDirect Mobile(TM) device management (DM) software for its Open Mobile System (OMS) platform based on Google Android. In December, Borqs announced that it joined the Open Handset Alliance as a commercialization partner and is on track to launch multiple Android-based handsets with its OEM partners for China and other markets in the first half of 2009. Borqs selected Red Bend exclusively to provide FOTA and DM solutions in those mobile phones. Device manufacturers, operators and software providers face the growing challenge of managing, deploying and developing mobile software in a unified way across a variety of platforms and devices. Red Bend solves this challenge by being able to manage any software on any type of mobile device. Its software products have been adopted in more than 250 devices in the mobile, machine-to-machine (M2M) and WiMAX markets and are integrated in over 50 handset architectures using software platforms including Android, Symbian OS and LiMo Foundation.

"Borqs believes Android is the ideal open mobile phone platform to build advanced smartphones and to deploy attractive applications and services in order to generate solid traction in the marketplace," said Pat Chan, CEO, Borqs International Holding Corp. "We selected Red Bend because they offer fast and easy integration into the OMS platform, compliance with industry standards, responsive customer support and proven performance in updating mobile software quickly and efficiently over the air."

Borqs is a leading software systems integrator that provides handset manufacturers, operators and other partners with its Android-based OMS handset software platform.

Red Bend's award-winning MSM solutions have shipped in more than 410 million devices worldwide. vCurrent Mobile FOTA software enables operators and device manufacturers to upgrade software quickly and efficiently over the air. It is the most widely deployed FOTA client available with advanced features such as ensuring 100% completion of the update even with a power loss, and updating software in the background while consumers continue to use the full functionality of the phone. vDirect Mobile allows remote configuration and provisioning of mobile devices. Its innovative framework streamlines the creation of DM client applications and makes it easier and more cost effective for manufacturers to quickly integrate standards-based device management functionality into mobile devices.

"With Android quickly gaining traction across the mobile industry, manufacturers and platform providers are turning to Red Bend as a trusted partner to provide our innovative and proven solutions for FOTA and DM to Android handsets," said Yoram Salinger, CEO of Red Bend Software. "We are excited to work with Borqs to enable them and their OEM customers to meet aggressive time-to-market goals in bringing Android handsets to mobile consumers in China."
