CCID Consulting: 3G Drives Forward China's Communication Power Supply Market

CCID Consulting's latest Research Report on China's Communication Power Supply Market, January-June 2007 shows that 208,000 sets of communication power supplies were sold in China in the first half of 2007, generating sales revenues of 2.28 billion Yuan. Of this, sales revenues reached 960 million Yuan in Q1, and 1.32 billion Yuan in Q2, up 37.5% over Q1. CCID Consulting's research shows that the main driving forces behind the growth were renewal of telecom operation networks and pilot procurement of 3G equipment.

Regionally, East China has become the center of communication power supply consumption in China. East China, North China and South China have taken a notable lead over other regions and become the consumption engine in the country. Despite their fast growth, Northeast China, Central China, Northwest China and Southwest China are still behind national average growth. This is positively related to the level of local economic development and the degree of telecom network penetration. This situation is expected to continue to exist in the short term.

In the first half of 2007, -48V products were still the mainstream in China's communication power supply market. +24V products were mainly used in renewing used equipment. In terms of growth trend, -48V power supplies will gradually expand their market shares. Thanks to the procurements by operators and equipment firms, power supply sales revenues in the telecom industry reached 1.95 billion Yuan in the first half of 2007, with over 167,000 sets sold, far greater than the demand for +24V communication power supply.
