Medical Electronic Products Have the Largest Market Share

In 2007, developments in China's healthcare market, such as the increase in medical institutions, the further subdivision of medical subjects, specialization of medical diagnosis, broadened the requirements for medical electronic products, which include heart, brain, muscle and eye instruments and equipment, monitoring instruments, ECG and physiological oscillographs and recording instruments, blood measurement instruments, electronic temperature and pressure measuring devices. Sales revenue of these equipment reached 12.93 billion Yuan, which accounted for the largest market share of medical electronic products.

The sales revenue of ECG and physiological oscillographs and recording instruments reached 3.04 billion Yuan, which accounted for 23.5% of the total market, the largest market share. The rapid growth of China's hospital beds led to the increase in demand for monitoring equipment. Domestic use of monitoring equipments and long-distance medical care also drove the rapid development of these products. Currently, China's monitor market is in rapid development period. With a rising consciousness in health awareness and improvements in the quality of life for many, medical electronic products made their way to modern Chinese homes. Sphygmomanometer, ECG monitoring equipment and blood glucose meter led the development of domestic application, and became the impetus of the rapid growth of the whole medical electronic market.

Medical RF Equipments' Growth Rate Rise Again

In recent years, medical RF equipments, which include X-ray, computed tomography scanner and NMR, showed a downslide trend, but in 2007, the market has improved, with the growth has increased to 16.3% from 15.5% in 2006. The major reason is that with related policies' adjustment for medical product purchase and requirements saturation for such products, the growth rate slowed down, but with China's countries' and community health care system's gradual improvement, as basic diagnostic equipment, medical RF equipment market entered into a new round of rapid growth. Aiming at China's national and community health care markets, GE and Siemens developed high performance economic products also led to the rise of requirements and demand.

Common X ray products are the most basic medical diagnostic equipment. Because of the price drop, the products' purchases maintained a high level; with their market share growing rapidly. In 2007, China's CT and MR market requirements have entered a new round of growth. The major reasons are that the purchasing requirements in 2-3 tier cities grew and also hospitals in 1-tier cities upgraded high-end products.

Medical Ultrasonic Equipment Has Bright Future

Medical ultrasonic equipments include color ultrasonic equipments, black-and white ultrasonic equipments. In 2007, the sales revenue of this market reached 2.87 billion Yuan, up 20.1% year-on-year. The sales revenue of color diagnostic equipment reached 1.79 billion Yuan and the sales revenue of common black-and-white B-ultrasound reached 810 billion Yuan.

Generally speaking, currently, China's requirements for medical ultrasonic equipment have transferred to 2-tier, 3 tier cities, countries' and countries' medical institutions; but affected by high price, this market's potential has not been fully released, with many manufacturers attempting to enter the market just to develop low-end products. Meanwhile, foreign ultrasonic equipments manufacturers such as GE and Philips enlarge their investment in China, which reduces product cost and product price. Under these factors, China's medical ultrasonic equipments price has been dropping continuously so as to promote products' further popularity. Besides, ultrasonic technical continuous progress drives medical ultrasonic equipments to develop, aiming at clearer images and more convenient operation, which stimulates ultrasonic equipments' upgrade and brings more opportunities. Besides, with China's community medical system's gradual improvement, as community medical system's basic hardware facilities, ultrasound equipment market, especially the portable ultrasound presents favorable development, which provides another guarantee for equipment market's further development.

However, the increasing market requirements promote the sales volume of ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus. Because of improved technology and product cost drop, the integrated ultrasonic machine's price is gradually dropping. As for long-term, with the abundant requirements' support, ultrasonic equipment market has bright future.
