2007-09-30 14:36 1009

BEIJING, Oct. 3 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- CCID Consulting, China's leading research, consulting and IT outsourcing service provider, and the first Chinese consulting firm listed in Hong Kong (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: HK08235), releases its article on China's digital image market in the first half of 2007.

According to the data released by CCID Consulting in August 2007, in the first half of 2007 China's digital image market maintained the trend of stable growth. With the constant decrease of the price of digital image products, the market promotion of various manufacturers, and the continued improvement of product performance, this market continued to keep a sustained and healthy trend.

According to analysis by CCID Consulting, there are four major features for China's digital image market in the first half of 2007:

1. This market maintained sustainable development, and the growth rate over the same period in last year reached 26%

Compared with the huge market potential in China, at present, the cardinal number of the digital image product is still small, and this market is far from being saturated. Therefore, this market maintained sustainable development in 2007. The market monitoring data by CCID Consulting shows that in the first half of 2007 the total sales volume in China's digital image market reached 4,485,400 sets, an increase of 26.0% over the same period last year. And the sales revenue of this market reached 11.815 billion Yuan, an increase of 15.5% over the same period last year.

2. In the digital camera market Canon is still number 1, while Aigo pushed into the top 10

In the first half of 2007 rather huge changes have taken place on the pattern of China's digital camera market. Canon further kept and consolidated its leading position in this market, with their market share increasing from 25.7% in H1 2006 to 26.5% in H1 2007. The gap between Canon and Sony, which is number 2 in this market, also grew wider.

Sony continued to hold onto its number 2 spot in China's digital camera market, while Aigo, a domestic brand, pushed into the top 10 through its outstanding price advantages, powerful brand promotion and efforts made in sales and distribution channels. The growth rate of Aigo over the same period last year is the most obvious.

3. In the digital video (DV) market the market concentration is high; Samsung is the number 3 in this market

In the first half of 2007, the pattern of China's DV market did not change. Five major manufacturers -- Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Samsung and JVC -- still occupy over 97% of the market share. The sales volume of Sony in the first half of 2007 reached 308,300, and Sony is still the number 1 in this market with a market share of 43.1%. Panasonic is number 2 in this market. In the first half of 2007, Samsung made some breakthroughs in China's DV market, and its position increased from number 4 to number 3. The sales volume of Samsung in the first half of 2007 reached 92,000 with a market share of 12.9%. Canon was number 3 in China's DV market in the first half year of 2006. In the first half of 2007, its position decreased to number 4. JVC is still number 5 in this market.

4. The growth of high-pixel digital cameras is obvious, and the development speed of HDD DV is fast

For China's digital image market in the first half of 2007, with the improvement of products and sales and distribution channels, and the decrease of price, the product structure is upgrading rapidly.

China's digital camera market in the first half of 2007 saw products with an average of between 6 and 6.99 megapixels, and this is still the mainstream of this market thanks to the outstanding price performance ratio. The market share of these products reached 47.8%. For products with less than 6 megapixels, though they have price advantages, their sales volume is gradually decreasing because customers are seeking improvements in product performance. The market share of products with less than 6 megapixels has decreased from 51.2% in H1 2006 to 12.1%. With the constant abundance of high pixel products and the decrease of their prices, the market share of products with over 7 megapixels is gradually increasing.

Through comparing products with different pixel grades in H1 2006 and H1 2007, we can see that 6 megapixels is an important threshold. All of the sales volumes of digital cameras with less than 6 megapixels decreased over the same period in 2006, while the sales volumes of digital cameras with over 6 megapixels showed different growth trends. The growth in sales volume of cameras with 7 to 7.99 megapixels is the most obvious.

Judging from the products available in China's DV market in the first half of 2007, DV products China have been further enriched and developed. The development speed of HDD DV is the highest. The market share of HDD DV increased from 4.9% in H1 2006 to 13.8% in H1 2007.

Comparing various products in H1 2006 and H1 2007, we can see that the Mini DV market experienced negative growth. The DVD DV and HDV market presented rather high growth, with the decrease of price and the promotion of manufacturers the growth rate of HDD DV is the highest. Compared with H1 2006, the growth rate of HDD DV in H1 2007 reached 238.0%.
