Awards to Recognize Excellence in Sustainable Design and Development with an Emphasis on Energy Conservation and Alternative Energy Sources

HONG KONG, Jan. 24 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- CoreNet Global, a professional association representing the corporate real estate industry, today announced that it is now accepting entries for its 2007 Sustainable Leadership Awards competition.

Recognized worldwide as one of the industry's most prestigious awards programmes, the Sustainable Leadership Awards honour enterprises whose buildings integrate sustainability practices with design excellence, whilst meeting their organisation's objectives.

Open to all companies and government organisations worldwide, the awards recognize corporate real estate practices that demonstrate sustainable design and development through real estate policies, processes, education, and implementation.

For 2007, there will also be a special emphasis on realty projects that have generated outstanding results in the area of energy conservation, including developments that have effectively combined or successfully introduced new, alternative energy sources.

Commenting on the awards programme, Mr. Mike Zamora, Chair of CoreNet Global's Asia Region, encouraged organizations in the Asia-Pacific region to submit their nominations, noting that some of today's most innovative sustainability practices are originating from across the region.

Mr. Zamora points out, "Through this programme, our hope is to provide exposure for the amazing work of enterprises and local governments from around the region that might otherwise be overlooked.

"One of our major goals for this year is therefore to ensure that the best sustainability practices from around Asia receive both the recognition and worldwide attention that they deserve."

To make a nomination, entries for the 2007 Sustainable Leadership Awards can be submitted on a CD-ROM or online via Corenet Global's corporate website at: http://www2.corenetglobal.org/learning/awards/index.vsp by March 1, 2007.

Held in partnership with the International Design Association, the American Institute of Architects and sponsored by Haworth, Tandus, Cubellis and Johnson Controls, judging will be conducted by a distinguished panel of corporate real estate experts including representatives from ABN Amro, BP and Toyota.

In addition, finalists will be announced through the trade media during the month of March 2007, with the 2007 Sustainable Leadership Awards winners to be presented at a special awards ceremony to be held at CoreNet Global's 2007 Spring Summit scheduled to take place from April 29 - May 2, 2007 in Denver, Colorado.
