Mobile data leader to deploy "best of breed" messaging platform across TELUS' multiple mobile network technologies

TORONTO, Canada, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Acision, a world leader in mobile data, today announced that TELUS has signed a multi-year agreement to use Acision's advanced messaging solution across the company's multiple mobile network technologies, including CDMA 2000, UMTS, HSPA+ and iDEN.

With Canadian text messaging traffic growing in 2009 at a year-over-year rate of 70 percent *, Acision's technology will help TELUS accommodate the surge in SMS traffic and address new market opportunities by providing a high value messaging service to its customers.  The agreement also positions TELUS for future development as Acision's advanced messaging solution is designed to enable operators to scale easily and launch additional mobile data services such as MMS, as well as innovative and personalized messaging services.

"TELUS is seeing tremendous interest from its customers for new SMS capabilities. In Acision, we have found a partner which offers a best-in-breed next generation SMS architecture that addresses the opportunities available to us today and positions us to deliver superior services in the future," said Ken Kerrigan, vice-president of Network Technology at TELUS. "In addition to a superior customer experience and future-proof SMS messaging environment, this centrally-managed SMS platform simplifies our current architecture and reduces our Total Cost of Ownership significantly."

This advanced messaging capability is made possible by the deployment of the Acision Short Message Service Center, a complete messaging solution and core part of Acision's Data Services Architecture that can support TELUS' entire messaging infrastructure. Acision will also deploy the Acision Universal Gateway, which enables the introduction of new third-party services, real-time event triggering and database look ups; the Acision Central Management Station, a framework to monitor, measure and manage messaging data services; and Acision Business Tools, which enables services and key performance  reporting, as well as web based customer care.

"The multi-year agreement with TELUS -- a tier one carrier with 6.7 million wireless subscribers – is further evidence of Acision's commitment to serve the Canadian market with profit generating mobile data solutions," said Rory Buckley, Chief Executive of Acision. "TELUS' selection of Acision is further validation of the high quality and value add of our data services solutions and strategy.
