Charlotte Harbor Regional Center Named "Best Regional Center" by Attendees of a Recent IIUSA Event in Guangzhou, China

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The Charlotte Harbor Regional Center (CHRC) and its first EB5 development project - Charlotte Harbor Marina - are gaining international recognition after earning approval by the USCIS last October.  Attendees surveyed at a recent Association to Invest In the USA (IIUSA) event in Guangzhou, China named the CHRC the "best Regional Center" and Charlotte Harbor Marina the "best EB5 project" out of approximately 50 top regional centers in the U.S.

The IIUSA event, held in May 2011, was well attended by potential Chinese EB5 investors and Chinese Migration Agencies, which help find EB5 investors for projects.

"EB5 investors are looking for projects that will create jobs and provide a return of and on their investment," says Allen Heise, President/CEO, Charlotte Harbor Regional Center. "Our project was recognized by these attendees based on that criteria. They considered the Charlotte Harbor Regional Center to be the safest and best option."

In addition to being deemed as a "safe" investment, event attendees recognized the CHRC because it is one of the only Regional Centers in the United States that was given approval by the USCIS to include Sales (unrestricted) as one of its target industry economic clusters and focus of investment activity.

"This special approval by the USCIS provides us with a unique platform over other Regional Centers in our ability to create jobs necessary for our investors," says Heise.  "Job creation is the most important part of an EB5 project since it is necessary for the investors to receive their Green Card."

IIUSA attendees also recognized the Charlotte Harbor Marina as "best EB5 project" because:

  • The project's location is an affordable mixed-use, commercial waterfront property that meets both Federal and State EB5 location requirements
  • The project is shovel ready – fully permitted and approved – by federal, state and local government
  • The project has a unique USCIS approved job creation advantage with Sales as a target industry
  • The project provides a safe, flexible equity or debt investment option for EB5 investors
  • JPMorgan Chase is involved in the project as escrow agent for investors

Other unique aspects of the CHRC include being the first Regional Center "headquarters" building in the United States, which will house all services for EB5 investors, EB5 candidates and Regional Center businesses; the world's first "Fractional Marina Club," unmatched in the marina industry, including businesses that are complimentary and supportive of marina club operations; and the first full-service "green" marina facility in the United States developed using EB5 financing. Additionally, in an effort to expand their reach, the CHRC opened a branch office in Beijing, China earlier this year. In the coming months, two additional CHRC branch offices will open in Vancouver, Canada and Dublin, Ireland.

The CHRC will create a regional economic impact which is expected to generate over several direct, indirect and induced jobs in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties in categories including Construction, Restaurant, Retail, Office Space, Marina, Sales, Real Estate and Manufacturing.

Charlotte Harbor Marina is located in Southwest Florida's world-class boating and fishing area in the proximity of 60,000 registered boat owners. The Port Charlotte area has been named as the #1 Best Place to retire in the United States (CNN/Money Magazine 2009).
