BEIJING, June 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, a TV show called "Tiger Mom and Cat Dad" became popular in China. It reflected a lot of current problems in Chinese education, and resonated with many families. Some Chinese netizens dubbed the most controversial footage in English spontaneously by Mofunshow, a top mobile education app in China, and uploaded their work to YouTube. Therefore, many Americans saw the real "cruel" facade of Chinese educational culture.

Although the video is only three minutes, its content include many acute problems, such as real estate in school district, violent education, and a high pressure learning environment. The "tiger mom" Bi Shengnan (played by Vicki Zhao), wailed to her father after her little daughter was diagnosed with depression. She said, "I'm only a learning machine without any emotions when I was in school." Growing up in this educational environment, she went on, "Not only my husband but also my kid dislikes me. I don't even like myself. I'm not happy at all." Because of the huge differences between Chinese and American educational culture, after the video was released by Brother Orange, many Americans joined the debate.

They doubt whether the children who study well will have better social ability in China. A Mofunshow user said, "A child shouldn't study all the time. Sometimes play time is good since it can let the child learn some life skills."

However, some agree with the views of the TV show. Many people believe that the learning environment has significant effects on the growth of children, so they consider finding a better school and community, which will ensure a better future for the child. But more people think it improper to buy tremendously overpriced school district apartments that are beyond one's economical abilities.

Some "old China hands" from the US challenged: "Is physical punishment a thing of past? It is said that now the Chinese children are spoiled by parents."

In recent years, more and more Chinese have started to adopt American educational beliefs. As the video uploader "Lee Michael", user of the mobile app Mofunshow, stated in the video description: "We dubbed and uploaded the video just to let more people know about the current status of educational realities in Chinese families. I think a fusion of educational practice from China and the US may result in cultivation of happier and healthier children."
