3,000 trade visitors, 800 conference delegates and over 60 exhibitors are expected at the inaugural Clean Energy Expo Asia, a unique trading and knowledge-sharing platform for renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.

SINGAPORE, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Asia remains a growing hub for clean energy investment, with the Asia and Oceania region contributing $24.2 billion of new investments in 2008, a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 42 percent from 2006-2008 (Note 1). Come 18-20 November 2009, 3,000 trade visitors, 800 conference delegates and over 60 exhibitors are expected at the first-ever Clean Energy Expo Asia (CEEA). This is the only Trade Fair and Conference in Asia to bring together leading players in the Technology, Services, Finance and Government sectors. Jointly organized by Koelnmesse and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), CEEA is part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW).

An international marketplace for Clean Energy

The region's investment activity is currently led by China and India, with increasing activities in Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam (Note 1). Mirroring these developments, the Trade Fair at CEEA will feature eight country pavilions from Australia, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Singapore. These pavilions will showcase the latest clean energy technologies, services and financing solutions in the four key sectors of solar energy, energy efficiency, biomass and geothermal.

The Singapore pavilion is the largest to date, with close to 20 exhibitors. Some of the companies you can expect include Bioenergy Plantations, the first Singaporean company to cultivate Jatropha in India; Det Norske Veritas, a leading international provider of services for managing environmental risk; Eurolite Technologies, which offers innovations in natural lighting which contributes to a green and clean environment by reducing greenhouse gases, heat and energy; Phoenix Solar, a leading international photovoltaic system integrator; Seawind Asia, an international provider of project management, engineering, construction and operations services to the wind energy industry.

Meeting education and employment needs

According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report "Green Jobs: Towards decent work in a sustainable, low-carbon world", renewable energy sources are expanding rapidly and current employment is estimated at about 2.3 million jobs worldwide. Given the potential for growth in this sector, education and employment needs are and will become increasingly pressing.

Recognizing this need, the exhibition will include a career fair to showcase the educational and training options available, as well as employment trends in the sector. The career fair will also help to match the human resource demands of the cleantech industry with job seekers.

A power-packed conference - for the industry by the industry

The conference program, developed in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) covers financing opportunities and market trends, legislations and policies, as well as technological innovation in the area of renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.

The conference is divided into three main themes. The first day focuses on Clean Energy technologies. The second day will look at Energy Efficiency across different business sectors, while the third day will cover policies, projects and financing issues within the industry globally.

Over 70 international experts will share their views and experience on these topics at the conference. Some notable speakers include Mr. WooChong Um, Director, Sustainable Infrastructure Division, Regional and Sustainable Development Department, Asian Development Bank; Dr. Armin Sandhoevel, CEO, Allianz Climate Solutions; Dr. Rob Steenman, Head of Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), Singapore; Mr. Michael Liebreich, Chairman & CEO, New Energy Finance; and Mr. Stewart Taggart, Founder, Desertec-Asia.

Your gateway to renewable energy

CEEA brings together key stakeholders in the entire value chain to define the upcoming trends in clean energy and sustainable development in the region.

"We want to fire the imagination of participants by showing them the exciting, sustainable energy options already available or soon to be available. The trade fair will be as broad and deep as possible in order to emphasize the huge number of innovative energy solutions that are within reach even today. Combine that with our high quality conference program, addressing the potential and latest issues of the clean energy sector in the region, and we have a conference with a vision for the future. Through Clean Energy Expo Asia, we hope to contribute to global efforts to turn cleaner visions to greener realities," Mr. Michael Dreyer, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Koelnmesse.

Clean Energy Expo Asia is held from 18- 20 November 2009 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. For more information on Clean Energy Expo Asia, please visit http://www.cleanenergyexpoasia.com .
