First and continuous breakthrough
Kelvin Ng, one of Hong Kong's leading furniture and sofa designers has been the first Hong Kong - Chinese designer recognized by the prestigious American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) annual Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards in 2011 and subsequently in 2013 and this year.
These recognitions made Kelvin Ng further determined to follow his design philosophy and create sofas which are not going for the mainstream and differentiate from others. His determination brings return. He took his 3rd trophy Pinnacle Design Achievement Award this year and became the first Hong Kong - Chinese designer who won this accolade for 3 times.
In addition to other honourary recognitions from Hong Kong organization and media such as Federation of Hong Kong Industries and the leading interior design magazine Perspective, winning this accolade is further seen as a symbolic and continuous breakthrough in the huge and important US market of furniture designed and created in China. About the Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards
The Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards were founded in 1995 by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) to promote furniture design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry. It is widely regarded by the American home furnishing industry as 'Oscars' of home furnishing product design. Product entries must be in current production and must have been shown at one of the major furniture retailers (worldwide); or be available in at least 20 retail stores in the U.S.
About Kelvin Ng
Kelvin Ng is the co-founder and chief designer of Hong Kong sofa brand 'GIORMANI' and its overseas brand 'KELVIN GIORMANI'. He graduated from San Francisco State University, CA, USA, with a Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in International Business and Marketing. He is responsible for the business development of overseas markets, product design, along with factory & production management. In 2007, he was named one of Hong Kong's top 40 designers under 40 years-old by leading interior magazine PERSPECTIVE.
