HONG KONG, Dec. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- CoreNet Global, the world's leading association for corporate real estate (CRE) executives, service providers and economic developers, is pleased to name Mr. Andrew Watt as the new Chair of its Hong Kong Chapter.

The chapter - one of 46 that the association operates worldwide - plays a pivotal role by providing quality learning on strategic issues facing today's corporate real estate professionals.

With the aim of creating an environment where members can learn from each other and from leaders and authorities in the industry, each chapter offers a programme of continuing education, professional development and networking.

This provides members with opportunities to access resources, exchange ideas and to build relationships with other corporate real estate professionals who share common interests and challenges.

"CoreNet Global is committed to advancing the evolution of the corporate real estate profession as an executive management discipline in Hong Kong and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Our new Hong Kong Chair certainly symbolizes that level of professionalism," said Angela Cain, CEO of CoreNet Global.

Cain added, "Our objective this year is to improve the quality of our professional development and networking programmes in Hong Kong. For this reason, our efforts will focus on initiatives that create even greater business value for our members, and I appreciate Andrew's experience in strategic corporate real estate management will be a tremendous asset."

A long-time CoreNet Global member, Mr. Watt is a seasoned CRE professional with over 20 years experience in both the Asia Pacific and United Kingdom.

Since 1996, he has been a Director within the Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES) division of Barclays Capital where his achievements have included expanding CRES in Asia from a 230,000 square outfit to a 2.1 million square foot operation spanning 12 countries.

A qualified chartered surveyor, Mr Watt's previous experience includes working for a broad spectrum of international companies across the areas of project management, commercial management and quantity surveying.

Before joining Barclays Capital, he held corporate management positions in Hong Kong with Hopewell Costain Construction and Bachy Soletanche, as well as serving as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for Faithful and Gould.

His prior positions in the United Kingdom also included roles with commercial property developer Highcross International and private practice consultancy firm Ridge and Partners.

"I am both honored and delighted to have been named as the new Chair of CoreNet Global's Hong Kong Chapter," comments Mr. Watt. "As Chair, my intentions are to make every effort to continue the good progress that the chapter has made in expanding the range of knowledge sharing and networking opportunities for our membership.

"Hong Kong represents one of the largest concentrations of CoreNet Global members in the region and our plans are to both dramatically improve and increase the level of support and range of services available to members locally," continues Mr. Watt.

"This will include providing an enriched programme of continuing education to help corporate real estate practitioners in this market grow personally and professionally."

Mr. Watt succeeds Brian Crockford who stepped down as Chair of CoreNet Global's Hong Kong Chapter earlier this month to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Watt's new appointment is for a two year term, effective immediately.
