The exhibit, located in booth 1509 in Hall W1, will feature Gorilla(R) glass, Jade(R) glass for advanced display and EAGLE XG(TM) glass substrates. The company will also discuss its expectations for the global LCD market at the event.

Visitors to the booth will be able to experience the high strength durability and scratch resistance of Corning’s Gorilla glass through a live demo. Gorilla glass is used in personal electronic devices, such as mobile phones and notebook computers, and is especially valuable for products featuring touch-screen technologies. This thin, tough cover glass has become widely utilized in 17 major brands and more than 70 devices.

At a media event to be held March 16 at Corning’s booth, LI Fang, president of Corning Display Technologies China, will review Corning’s perspective on the current LCD market. “Corning finished 2009 strong, as the supply chain rebounded on the ongoing momentum of LCD TV sales,” said Li. “As we disclosed at our annual investor meeting in February, we expect 2010 to be another year of solid growth, again led by LCD TVs. We expect the glass market to be in the range of 2.8 to 3.0 billion square feet.”

Li will also provide a 2010 end market outlook from the glass and application perspectives in both the worldwide and China markets based on statements made during Corning’s annual investor meeting. “Corning expects worldwide LCD TV units to grow 21% to 171 million units. TVs per household remain low, and as China’s central government expands the price ceiling on their subsidy program, consumers may opt for more and larger TVs. Overall, we expect LCD TV units in China to be up another 9 million units or 32% in the year ahead.”

Meanwhile, China is poised to become the world’s largest LCD TV market, prompting China’s government to further develop the local supply chain. “Corning is strongly committed to China’s growing TFT-LCD market. With our finishing facility in Beijing, we were among the first on the China mainland. We will continue to invest in this market to grow with our customers and develop the products they require. For example, Corning has announced its intentions to add melting capacity in China; the questions that remain are where, and to some extent, when.,” said Li.
