Corporates Race through FRIM for Frost & Sullivan's Frost the Trail Charity Run

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On 21 October 2012, 14 companies, 17 teams & 80 runners convened at the Kepong Botanical Garden (KBG) area of the Forest Reserve Institute Malaysia (FRIM) for the flag off of the 3rd annual Frost & Sullivan 'Frost the Trail' run for corporate social responsibility.

'Frost the Trail' is a run aimed at raising funds for two adopted charities, Pusat Kasih Sayang YWCA and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya KIRTASH, as well as instilling an appreciation for nature and the environment. Frost the Trail collected a total of RM41,000 in 2012 and 100 percent of the proceeds are donated to the adopted charities.

Frost the Trail KL Corporate Challenge 2012 saw teams of four runners and individual runners each having to complete 8.1kms that covers a lap around the scenic lake route of KBG, followed by a track through the jungle and ending with a sprint over a rugged track. The team winners were tabulated based on the time each team of four managed to complete the circuit.

The event was graced by FRIM Director General Dato' Dr. Abd Latif Mohmod, who applauded the continuous support of Frost & Sullivan towards FRIM's efforts to increase environmental awareness by having the Frost the Trail event in FRIM which has recently been declared a National Heritage.

"In our effort to conserve this National Heritage for future generations, FRIM welcomes support, contribution and collaborations with corporate bodies who share our values and objectives. The FRIM campus has an amazing biodiversity and its lush green man made forest holds carbon sinks that corporate bodies may participate towards conservation by contributing in carbon offset," he said in his welcome speech.

Also in attendance was Mr. Aroop Zutshi, Global President & Managing Partner of Frost & Sullivan, Mr. Barry Bartlett, Vice President of Frost & Sullivan, Mr. Manoj Menon, Partner & Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Managing Director, and Mr. Kavan Mukhtyar, Partner, Frost & Sullivan.

Companies who participated include Dimension Data, Ericsson, F5, iFast, Infinity 21, ING, MITCOM, PEMANDU, PKT, RSM, Sime Darby Property, TM Research & Development, Top 10 of Malaysia, and Yayasan Bursa Malaysia. Frost & Sullivan were represented by individual runners Mr. Manoj Menon, Mr. Kavan Mukhtyar, Mr. Barry Bartlett, Mr. Gopal R and Mr. Thomas Tay.

The winning team for Frost the Trail KL Corporate Challenge 2012 was Yayasan Bursa A, made up of runners Mak Chin Kow, Mathialagan A/L R.Manikam, Johar Jurani and Muhammad bin Ali. The silver medal went to Ericsson A, with team members Nicolas Blixell, Erik Massakowski, Anders Wannstrom and Tom Darell while the bronze medal was presented to Yeo Kee Voon, Carlos Leon, Lim Boon Han and John Francis Tan Sun Kuan, of team Ericsson B. In the individual category, Mr. Manoj Menon of Frost & Sullivan took home the gold while Kong Sieng Kim from MITCOM and Ron Ho Swee King from F5 took the silver and bronze, respectively.

Preceding the prize presentation ceremony and performances from the charity beneficiaries, all participants had the opportunity to mingle amongst peers, colleagues and acquaintances companies whilst enjoying a breakfast buffet. There was a carnival atmosphere this year at the event with charity stalls, a kid's golf setup, and lucky draws.

Telekom Malaysia Research & Development is a Gold Donor while Bursa Malaysia, Dimension Data, Ericsson, ING, and Sime Darby Property are Silver Donors. The Forest Research Institute Malaysia is a Supporting Organization while Spritzer is the Official Drink sponsor.
