The company will implement the Sultanate's first Single Electronic Window and also an enhanced Integrated Customs Management System

MUSCAT, Oman, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CrimsonLogic, a leading provider of eGovernment solutions and services headquartered in Singapore, has won a key project in Oman, a first for the company in this market. The project has two deliverables - to plan, develop and launch Oman's first National Single Electronic Window (SEW) for the Royal Oman Police, Directorate General of Customs; and another deliverable to roll out an enhanced Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS) to replace the existing one.

Single Electronic Window is a platform that allows trading communities to lodge standardised information and documents with a single entry point to fulfil import, export and transit-related regulatory requirements.  The Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS) will allow Directorate General of Customs to enhance customs administration in meeting current economic and globalisation trends and standards.

"The implementation of a state-of-the-art Single Electronic Window and Integrated Customs Management System will capitalise on information technology to provide a one-stop platform to improve business processes and to implement efficient and effective customs clearance for Oman's business communities," said Brigadier Issa Alkiyumi, the Director General of Customs.  "We have chosen CrimsonLogic to undertake this milestone project because the company has a proven record of implementing simplified solutions that deliver results, including multiple projects in the Gulf region."

Both systems will be rolled out simultaneously at 28 Customs locations in Oman in this multi-year project.

"We are delighted and honoured to be chosen by Oman to undertake this important national initiative involving multiple government agencies and departments, as it clearly shows the confidence the Sultanate has in CrimsonLogic to deliver a world-class solution that will meet expectations," said Leong Peng Kiong, CEO of CrimsonLogic.  "Oman is strategically important market for CrimsonLogic as it is the first time we are implementing such a large scale project there, and leveraging on our global experience and track record, I'm confident that our solution will greatly enhance Oman's international competitiveness and strengthen its regional position in the Gulf."

Singapore government agencies such as International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore), Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and IDA International have contributed to CrimsonLogic's successful bid of this Oman project.

When launched, the SEW/ICMS is expected to provide an electronic platform for the Sultanate of Oman and trade communities to manage administrative and logistical operations more efficiently, such as elimination of duplicated processes, standardisation of operations and reducing paper work.

The solution will also provide a single online channel by electronically linking different agencies involved in the import/export process to facilitate data exchange for the application of licenses and permits, enabling comprehensive self-service online customs services to be provided conveniently to local business communities.  In this way, the Sultanate of Oman can consolidate access channels and all Customs' core support applications through the same solution, where trade data can be accurately analysed to better facilitate growth measurement and forecast.

Brigadier Issa Alkiyumi added: "With the expected increase in trading efficiencies, this project will give a tremendous confidence boost to the Sultanate's aspirations to become a regional and global trading hub."

CrimsonLogic has been implementing various projects in the Middle-East region for more than 10 years, including Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates; with even more years of experience (close to 25 years) in rolling out Trade Facilitation systems globally.

"Singapore has been ranked tops consistently in the World Bank's Doing Business report since 2006; its business landscape is highly conducive for entrepreneurs and trading communities to easily conduct business," said Eugene Wong, Chairman of CrimsonLogic.  "Our trade facilitation solutions have strategically helped Singapore enhance its competitive edge, and for a Singapore company to be trusted by the Omani Sultanate and other government customers globally to implement the same, it shows that our best-of-breed practices are proven and our knowledge highly valued."

The Oman project is expected to commence in the second half of 2013. Separately, CrimsonLogic is also participating and speaking in the upcoming WCO (World Customs Organisation) IT Conference and Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates between 14 and 16 May 2013.
