TOKYO, May 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Crocs Japan, the casual lifestyle footwear brand, has awarded DHL Supply Chain, the global market leader for contract logistics solutions, a two-year contract to manage its national warehouse operations in Narita, Japan. Under the new agreement DHL will be responsible for the entire warehouse operations including varieties of value added services and multi-channel logistics of Crocs footwear for retailers across the country.

Noboru Matsuoka, President at DHL Supply Chain Japan, said: "DHL Supply Chain works extensively with global owners of apparel brands to manage their logistics operations and the new business with Crocs is an important addition to our portfolio of customers. We will be responsible for dispatching over 30,000 pairs of shoes a month and have devised an agile solution that flexes to meet seasonal demand patterns and supports Crocs continued sales growth."

A strong relationship developed between the two organizations when DHL was awarded the contract to manage the Crocs warehouse in South Korea in 2010. Since then, consistent excellent performance, combined with DHL's proven track record in managing logistics operations for other leading apparel brands in Japan, led to the opportunity for the global logistics provider to expand its operations with the footwear brand.

Moriya Fujita, Managing Director at Crocs Japan, said: "What appeals to us the most is that DHL Supply Chain goes beyond being just a logistics-services vendor to provide us with a total solution extending to a comprehensive optimization of logistics. They have an established outsourcing agreement with Crocs globally and we are confident in the company's global business. We look forward to DHL Supply Chain making a number of improvements to optimize our logistics operations."

Previously Crocs had taken an active role in the management of its warehouse; however under the new agreement DHL will lead the operations management and re-design of the operations, which allows Crocs to focus on their core business activities. Experience and knowledge developed managing the South Korean operation and various kinds of customers in Japan; DHL has identified a series of Kaizen initiatives which improve efficiency and performance at the Japan warehouse.
