CHENGDU, China, Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Chengdu Solution Demo Center has been launched in the incubation park of Chengdu hi-tech zone. The center is jointly established by Dell and Intel, contains leading technologies for education, healthcare, cloud computing, and e-government, providing a good platform to customers for experiencing and testing.
Last September, Dell announced plans to open its second major China operation center in Chengdu. It will include manufacturing, sales and services operation to support China's western development policy. In January of 2011, Dell has formally launched its call center in Chengdu Tianfu Software Park, the largest software park operation in Asia. About 3,000 jobs may be created in the Chengdu site and neighboring areas when the center is fully operational.
Joe Kremer, President, Public-Large Enterprise (PLE) business, Dell Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ), said that China is very important for Dell, and the investment that Dell has made in China is far more than in the rest of the world. In general, Dell's procurement spending in China reaches more than US$25 billion in 2010.
He said that China has strict control on Internet service providers, so foreign companies cannot own independent licenses to provide Internet services in the country. If its own data centers want to provide cloud services to customers in China, Dell needs some authorizations from China's telecommunications companies. Dell plans to establish joint ventures with Chinese enterprises to achieve this goal together.
