Ellesse are Pleased to Announce the Four Winners of the 'Sport & The City' Competition

    The "Sport & The City" competition acted as a global call to action charging existing ellesse consumers, photography enthusiasts and the blogging community to document any sporting event that makes their city special -- enriching the social tapestry and creating beautiful moments set against ever changing backgrounds. The competition lasted for 9 weeks over the course of which 9 interim prizes of digital cameras were awarded to the week's most inspiring uploads. 

    The brief was to submit compelling images that truly captured the spirit and emotion of their city -- based upon 3 fundamental principles -- Sport, Style and Creativity. 700 images were uploaded to the gallery, creating an online travel guide, with our consumers as contributors. People from 118 different countries logged in to take part. 

    Almost 40,000 votes were compiled and the 4 winners were eventually chosen by a judging panel, including travel expert Tom Hall from Lonely Planet. 

    The four winners are "The City that never sleeps" by Slond003 from New York, "Jump London" by LSPHOTO from the UK, "Street Football" by Kushel Gangopadhyay from India and "Slackline in Rio" by Igo Bione from Brazil.

    Of the winners, Tom Hall from Lonely Planet commented: "The London shot blew us all away, while the slackline walker summed up the playfulness of Rio's outdoor lifestyle. The street football in India felt like we'd just walked around the corner and tumbled across this wonderful scene. New York isn't always thought of as a cycling city, but the final shot we chose proved that its broad boulevards are great on two wheels. There were some very strong other contenders and picking the winners is never easy, but we're confident we've picked out some great shots."

    The 4 winners will be given the opportunity to travel to one of four different European cities (London, Barcelona, Rome, and Athens) while documenting their trip with a new SRL digital camera.
