NINGBO, China, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FOTILE, China's leading kitchen appliance brand, has successfully sponsored and led an amendment to the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) standard for household appliances.
FOTILE's successful proposal to improve the existing standard for range hoods stemmed from their experience with the unique cooking habits of peoples across Asia, whereby fumes from cooking were not sufficiently extracted by range hoods built to the previous standards introduced by Euro-American enterprises.
For a long time, Euro-American enterprises have led the international standard for kitchen appliances. But there are big differences between western cooking and eastern cooking. "The original standard was unable to meet Asian cooking needs, so we were able to introduce a new standard that does just that," said FOTILE's vice president, Sun Liming.
It is the first time a Chinese kitchen appliance enterprise has guided the amendment of an international standard, and it signifies recognition from the international industry that the scientific and technological innovation coming out of China is of world-class quality.
