On 11 January, the Munich 2018 Bid Committee has to submit its official Bid Book to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The "Living Bid Book" videos help communicate essential information on some key topics of the near 400 page Bid Book to the public. The first edition, focusing on the Paralympic Winter Games, looks at the intertwined topics of accessibility and inclusion.

"The Paralympic Winter Games will not only take Paralympic Sports in Germany to a new level. Improved accessibility will benefit all people with a disability, as well as families with young children and the elderly, in the long term," explains Bernhard Schwank, CEO of the Munich 2018 Bid Committee. He is keen to point out the lasting impact of these improvements: "With the Winter Games, Munich wants to create an once-in-a-lifetime experience for all athletes, while at the same time promoting core values such as friendship, respect, courage, determination and equality".
Using the example of the Allianz Arena in Munich, the "Living Bid Book" shows how excellent accessibility in modern sport complexes can be achieved. Joe Gross from Allianz SE points out the inclusion that comes with accessibility: "Infrastructure provides the all-important framework, of course, but it is equally important that people with a disability are included socially and that mental barriers are dismantled."
Martin Braxenthaler, 10 times Paralympic Alpine Skiing gold medallist, inspected some of the existing infrastructural features on site. "As you can see in the film, the Bid Committee is on the right track - a lot has already been done, but there is still more to do."
For Verena Bentele, a 12 times Paralympic gold medallist in Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing, her participation in 2018 depends on where the Games will take place. "I need the perfect infrastructure if I am to train for future Paralympic Winter Games. Also, everything on site has to be just right. The "Living Bid Book" helps publicise the convincing concept for Munich 2018 and will promote widespread public support."
In 2011, further editions of the "Living Bid Book" will be published on topics such as "CO2 Compensation" and "Security".
