MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the aerospace non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection services market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Vibrant Corporation with the 2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Company of the Year Award. Vibrant Corporation has leveraged its process compensated resonance testing (PCRT) technology to address unmet market needs in the aerospace industry and eventually achieve a year-on-year revenue growth rate of 50 percent. Customer perception of high-quality and reliable service have helped the company sustain and expand its business, despite strong competition.

"Unlike traditional NDT methods, the PCRT technology can detect damage and material property degradation non-destructively, sometimes even before the defects manifest," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Apoorva Ravikrishnan. "It achieves this by identifying the resonance spectra changes that precede crack initiation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials."

The PCRT can also be used for part categorization to eliminate the rejection of acceptable components during maintenance inspections. Importantly, it enables significant cost savings for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) by reducing or eliminating field failures, reducing part replacement costs, and offering efficient part stream inspections.

In addition to PCRT, Vibrant Corporation's resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) technology can be utilized to specifically evaluate the elastic material properties of high-tech aerospace materials in a laboratory setting. Broadband resonance data provided by RUS aids the monitoring of creep accumulation as well as mechanical and thermomechanical fatigue in sample components, and alerts customers in real time. Besides, the resonant frequencies evaluated by RUS can help characterize properties such as grain orientation in crystalline structures and porosity in advanced ceramics.

Vibrant is working on developing models that can predict the effects of material damage in laboratories. Its resonance measurements, combined with these models, will be used to build a strong inspection platform that the military and commercial aerospace OEMs can deploy in laboratories for R&D. PCRT inspections can be customized to detect specific damage mechanisms before real samples are available to demonstrate these deficiencies.

"Vibrant Corporation is the only resonance-based NDT inspection service provider in the aerospace industry to have successfully implemented the cradle-to-grave approach for life monitoring of components based on Six Sigma statistical methods," remarked Ravikrishnan. "These practices ensure that it not only delivers effective inspection services to customers, but also helps them make engineering decisions."

Vibrant Corporation offers value to its customers by ensuring the efficacy of the inspection, recording the resonance information and serial number of all components that pass through the inspection, and maintaining and calibrating the equipment.

Since its establishment in 2006, Vibrant Corporation has grown steadily to become a $2.5 million company, largely on the strength of its commercial aerospace testing contracts and R&D contracts with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Nevertheless, it is also active in the automotive industry, as well as power generation and material testing laboratories. In 2015, it made major investments in global expansion and testing automation, indicating its ambition to become a truly leading company in the global aerospace NDT inspection services market.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in terms of growth strategy and implementation. The award recognizes a high degree of innovation with products and technologies, and the resulting leadership in terms of customer value and market penetration.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
