GSMA's Global Mobile Awards To Recognise Mobile Innovation in the Utilities Sector

LONDON, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The GSMA, which represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, has launched its prestigious 16th Annual Global Mobile Awards programme. New categories have been added to recognise excellence, achievement and innovation in the broad and constantly evolving mobile ecosystem. Specifically, the GSMA will shine a spotlight on mobile innovation in the utilities space for the first time.

"The global mobile industry is expanding at a rapid pace, as new devices embedded with mobile technology such as smart meters are becoming commonplace, positively impacting the global utilities sector," said Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere, Senior Director, Strategy and Technology, GSMA. Eligible entrants to this new category include utilities companies, smart utilities equipment manufacturers and solution providers, mobile operators, and chipset and module manufacturers.

The deadline for entries is Monday 22nd November 2010.

Shortlists will be announced in January 2011 and the awards will be presented at the GSMA's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in February 2011.
