2013-06-26 10:30 997

MIAMI, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) opened its third annual China Sourcing Fairs in Miami today to help boost trade between China and Latin America. The events, which feature more than 500 booths, are running June 25-27, 2013, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Combined, the Fairs are:

  • China Sourcing Fair: Electronics
  • China Sourcing Fair: Gifts & Premiums
  • China Sourcing Fair: Home Products
  • China Sourcing Fair: Fashion Accessories
  • China Sourcing Fair: Garments & Textiles

The exhibition also features a selection of Korean manufacturers at the co-located Korea Sourcing Fair at the same venue.

"China's trade value with Latin America rose by 8 percent in 2012 to $255.5 billion -- a significant volume," said Tommy Wong, President of Global Sources Exhibitions. The growth in China's trade with the region has surpassed that of the United States, which was 6.2 percent last year. "Demand for China-made products is on the rise. The China Sourcing Fairs here in Miami act as a platform for buyers and manufacturers to meet and conduct business. In fact, pre-registrations from buyers in Latin America are up by 15 percent this year -- indicating strong interest in the Fairs," said Wong.

Joining Wong to officially open the event was Jerry Libbin, Commissioner of the City of Miami Beach. Libbin took the opportunity to present Global Sources with an official Proclamation from the City of Miami Beach designating June 25, 2013 "Global Sources Day" in recognition of the company's contribution to international trade.

The China Sourcing Fairs feature a specialized two-day conference program entitled "How to Source from China". On-the-ground industry experts will reveal the ins and outs of importing consumer products from Asia at the conference which are scheduled to be held on June 26 and 27 and are free to all Fair attendees.

The Fairs in Miami are exclusively for importers, traders, and other volume buyers who purchase consumer products for resale to markets throughout North and Latin America. In 2012, more than 5,300 qualified buyers from more than 60 countries attended the event.
