Global Sources’ Chairman and CEO, Merle A. Hinrichs, said: "Most suppliers across Greater China expect that 2009 is not going to be an easy year. Global Sources is working to create new opportunities for them.

"We plan to expand our Private Sourcing Events schedule this year, giving suppliers the opportunity to meet serious international buyers at about 100 product-specific events.

"Even in a weak economy, quality buyers and suppliers can prosper as consumers seek more value for their money. Our complete online, face-to-face and print sourcing channels provide a platform for quality buyers and suppliers to meet and do business together."

One confirmed buyer, Sourcing Director of ThreeSixty Sourcing, George Ng, said: "We look for suppliers first and products second. We need to know about a supplier’s business operations before we agree to work with them.

"Private Sourcing Events help us find reliable suppliers we can work with to deliver great products to our customers. These events have helped us find reliable business partners in far less time than it would normally take."

One supplier, Sales Manager of Shenzhen Kingsun Enterprises, Kevin Zhao, said: "Sales are still good for us. These days, buyers’ expectations are much higher and that is leading more buyers to source our products. Private Sourcing Events connect us with the right buyers who put quality first."
