HONG KONG, Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6th ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition (Degree Category) organised by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong was held on 1 December with great success. After rounds of competition, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology won the Championship and was awarded the "Best Proposal", "Most Creative Team" and "My Favourite Team" awards of the Competition. The University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong were awarded the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.
Throughout this innovative challenge, ACCA Hong Kong aims to equip both full time accounting and business degree and sub-degree students with thorough analytical skills, business proposal writing skills, presentation skills and communication skills through working in a team environment in a real and interesting business situation.
This year the organiser has invited Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Partner Organisation. Each contesting team was required to simulate a non-profit making project that is conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong for an institution/organisation and prepare a business proposal for this project to bid a sponsorship from CreateHKs CreateSmart Initiative (CSI). On the day of final competition, the five finalist teams were required to present their business proposals for this project to the panel of judges comprising finance leaders and creative industry experts. The CSI was launched in 2009 to provide financial support to initiatives that are conducive to the development of local creative industries.
Mr William Mak, Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong and one of the panel judges summarized that the judging panel was impressed by the sophisticated content, innovative concept and feasible action plan of the business proposal submitted by the winning teams. Mr Mak also appreciated the outstanding performance by each of the team players.
