PHOENIX, Arizona, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has received a high-ranking government delegation from China, led by top legislative leader Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress (NPC). Chairman Wu is leading a 100 plus-member delegation on a state visit to the U.S., which will include stops in Phoenix AZ and Washington D.C. It is the highest level Chinese government visit to the U.S. this year.

Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote hosted a meeting and tour for the top lawmaker and the delegation at Honeywell’s Aerospace headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Honeywell showcased its energy efficiency and avionics safety products as well as more than 40 of its leading technologies from each of its four strategic business groups. Honeywell is a leader in developing products for safety, security, and energy efficiency, and has been a major industry player in Sino-U.S. energy saving and environmental cooperation.

“Honeywell’s history in China dates back more than 70 years,” commented Chairman Wu. “We expect Honeywell to continue leveraging its technology strengths and actively participating in various economic and trade initiatives in China. This will contribute significantly to building constructive ties for Sino-US cooperation.”

Cote previously met with Chairman Wu in Beijing prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics where they discussed broad common interests and about how China-U.S. reciprocal cooperation could be mutually beneficial to promoting closer bilateral ties.

“We are honored by Chairman Wu and the delegation’s visit to Honeywell,” said Cote. “We are committed to working with the Chinese government and its fast growing private sector to deploy our innovations in the areas of energy efficiency, environmental protection, safety and security ... in the air, on the road, at the workplace, and at home”

The Chinese delegation viewed Honeywell’s fuel-efficient Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) as well as its leading avionics technologies that can contribute to China’s expanding aircraft and aviation industry.

China’s first jumbo jet, the C919, is expected to make its maiden flight in 2014. Its commercial regional jet development program called the Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st Century (ARJ21) has already started production. Honeywell’s flight control systems have been chosen for the ARJ21 jet.

On September 8, the Chinese delegation will participate in the Sino-U.S. Economic Trade Forum organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Arizona Department of Commerce. Chairman Wu will kick off the forum with his address. Shane Tedjarati, President and CEO of Honeywell China and India, will give a keynote speech at the forum.
