OMEGA's relationship with NASA goes back to the '60s, when a team led by Ragan determined that astronauts needed a chronograph wristwatch to help them accomplish missions. Following a rigorous battery of testing on a range of off-the-shelf watches, the OMEGA Speedmaster was the only one to pass, and it needed no additional modifications. Since its selection in 1965, the Speedmaster has been the only watch approved by NASA for manned space missions, and the only watch to have been on the Moon. Buzz Aldrin was wearing his when he stepped onto the lunar surface on July 21, 1969 during the Apollo 11 mission.

Ragan's presentation detailed this remarkable story. Aldrin then followed with a story of his life's journey as well as his thoughts on the future of space travel. Joining Aldrin at the dinner were his wife, Lois, his daughter-in-law, and OMEGA International President Stephen Urquhart.
