Hong Kong Chubb Fire Safety to Provide Fire Protection to New Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal

HONG KONG, July 13 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Hong Kong Chubb Fire Safety has been awarded a $23.4 million contract from Cathay Pacific Services Limited for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of an integrated fire system at the Chek Lap Kok Airport. The project is one of the largest fire installation contracts awarded in Hong Kong in the past twenty years. Hong Kong Chubb Fire Safety is part of UTC Fire & Security, which is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

"Providing the fire protection solution for the new cargo terminal complements our long-standing service relationship with the Chek Lap Kok Airport."

The contract covers the installation of fire detection and alarm systems, a gas suppression and drencher system, a high sensitivity smoke detection system, and a roof and in-rack sprinkler system. The systems are to be installed in the Cathay Pacific cargo terminal in the Chek Lap Kok Airport, which includes an eight story building and high bay warehouse, with a total area of 260,000 square meters.

The main contractor for the new terminal is Gammon -- Hip Hing. The facility is expected to open in 2013.
