BEIJING, May 8 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Huaneng Power International, Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE: HNP; HKEx: 902; SSE: 600011) announced that the construction of the expansion project of 2 x 600MW domestic supercritical coal-fired generating units at Huaneng Rizhao Power Plant Phase II has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission recently.
The project will concurrently install seawater desulphurization facilities, high-performance electrostatic precipitators and flue-gas continuous emission monitoring systems. Various emission indices at the power plant will satisfy the State's environmental protection requirements.
The total investment amount of the project is estimated to be approximately RMB4.4 billion, of which 20% is equity capital to be funded by the Company and the remaining will be funded by bank loans.
