IMA Expands Presence in China with Leading Global Conference Event

SHANGHAI, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- In line with its overall international strategy, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA(R)), will present its 4th Annual Global Conference at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai on 10-11 September, 2009. Visit http://www.imaglobal.org to learn more.

IMA's inaugural event in this region will present the world's leading accounting and finance thought leaders and educational sessions in performance management, risk and internal controls, EVA (Economic Value Added), financial leadership, and the balanced scorecard for senior management executives, management accounting practitioners, management consultants, academics, and researchers.

Keynote presenters will include IMA president and CEO Jeffrey C. Thomson and Bennett Stewart, founding partner, Stern Stewart & Co.; and chief executive officer, EVA Dimensions LLC. Mr. Thomson's session, "Management Accountants - Stepping Up in Turbulent Times," will draw upon his two decades of experience at AT&T, where he served in various financial, strategic, and operational roles, and was responsible for implementing the company's first Activity-Based Costing program. Mr. Stewart's presentation, "Measuring, Managing and Maximizing Value - A Practical Management Guide," will demonstrate how to measure EVA and use it to make business decisions, illustrated through case studies of Chinese companies. Other Conference sessions will include representatives from Ingersoll Rand, SinoChem, and Merck China.

Ms. Li Yu Huan, deputy director accounting, Ministry of Finance will join IMA for a keynote presentation, "The regulation and development of Internal Control System on Chinese Enterprises". Mr. Liu Yuan, deputy director general, Bureau of Performance Assessment of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), responsible for performance assessment of the central state-owned enterprises in electricity, telecommunications, electronics, aviation, shipping and agriculture will join Catherin Lu, vice president of Accenture Greater China, general manager of finance & performance management service line to discuss "Practical EVA Implementation and Guidance" during the panel discussion on Friday morning, 11 September.

During the Global Conference, IMA will also hold an awards ceremony to announce the winners of the China Student Case Competition, in which student teams from 18 Chinese colleges and universities submitted solutions for a management accounting case on DVD.
