SEOUL, South Korea, July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) unveiled today a new integrated video marketing campaign, "Choose Your World," promoting awareness and encouraging grassroots fundraising to support the organization's initiatives. The campaign features a 3-minute video and a microsite (choose.ivi.int) that provides a snapshot of IVI and its work to combat deadly infectious diseases, as well as a link for people to support IVI through online donation. It is the first global marketing campaign of its kind launched by the international organization devoted to new and improved vaccines for the world's poor.

The video animates IVI's mission by depicting the life cycle of a small gift made to IVI. The donor watches their dollars fund cutting-edge research, the development and vetting of new vaccines, and successful vaccine delivery to at-risk populations around the world. The video empowers the donor, and inspires potential donors to make a contribution to IVI's public health and research initiatives.

"We wanted to clearly depict how much a small donation can do for the citizens of the world who suffer from conditions that can be easily prevented with vaccines," said Dr. Thomas F. Wierzba, Deputy Director General of Vaccine Development & Delivery at IVI. "We believe that the campaign has effectively captured the significance of the work we do, and we look forward to sharing our vision with the world."

IVI is an independent nonprofit international organization headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The organization's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver safe, effective, and affordable vaccines for developing nations. Working in collaboration with the international scientific community, public health organizations, governments and industry, IVI is involved in all areas of the vaccine spectrum - from new vaccine discovery and design in the laboratory to vaccine development as well as evaluation in the field to facilitating sustainable introduction of vaccines in countries where they are most needed. IVI currently focuses on three primary diseases including cholera, enteric fever (typhoid) and dengue fever.

One of IVI's most significant, groundbreaking contributions is the development and licensure of an oral cholera vaccine, Shanchol™, which is World Health Organization (WHO) approved. A clinical study published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases in October 2013 shows long-term protection given by this affordable vaccine compared to other cholera vaccines.

IVI's broad-spectrum marketing approach includes traditional and online media outreach in conjunction with a robust social media engagement campaign on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
