Wins Excellence Award for "Content Development: Expressing Editorial Personality Across Channels"

SINGAPORE and MANILA, Philippines, July 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Investor Central, the news service which keeps your investments honest, is proud to announce it has been honoured at the Asian Publishing Awards in Manila tonight for its RealityCheck reports on Singapore and Malaysian-listed companies.

It won the Excellence Award for "Content Development: Expressing Editorial Personality Across Channels".

Investor Central is satisfying investors' increasing demand for insights by "asking the questions that need to be asked" of the listed companies it reports on.

This accolade follows the Asian Publishing Awards last year, at which it won the "Best Example of Content Leadership" Award for its "Dog or Darling" IPO reviews.

Investor Central reporter Ashish Saxena also won Most Promising Journalist award from the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) in 2012.

"We are overjoyed to have won Asian Publishing Awards for three consecutive years," said Mark Laudi, Executive Editor at Investor Central and Managing Director of Hong Bao Media (Holdings) Pte Ltd, which owns and operates the service.

"Investor Central is changing the way investors view the stock market," he said. "We ask the questions that need to be asked of companies -- and we publish those questions even if we do not receive replies.

"In doing so, we are encouraging investors to think differently about the companies they have invested in.

"Our ultimate aim is to build trust in the stock market, and this can only come from honest, candid reporting," he said.

The OECD's annual "Corporate Governance In Asia" report, which tracks progress and challenges, has highlighted for some years the need for markets to "promote free and vigorous investigation" of the capital markets by news organisations.

"Investor Central is doing its part to fill this need in a responsible way," Laudi said.

Coincidentally, a day earlier The Australian newspaper reported[1] on SGX-listed Innopac Holdings' takeover of ASX-listed Merlin Diamonds, with two attributions to Investor Central's article on the same subject as source material.

Meantime, Hong Bao Media's investor education series "Sector Savvy" won in the category of "Best Multimedia Campaign by Corporate Advertiser".

The series was commissioned to raise awareness and educate retail investors about the diverse range of industry sectors represented on the Singapore stock market.

This year's Awards attracted 171 entries from 8 countries.
