PHILADELPHIA and LONDON, Sept. 17 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Liquent, a Thomson business and global leader in providing regulatory software solutions, information products and related services for the life sciences industry, today announced the availability of free eCTD-to-Regulated Product Submission (RPS) conversion software, an evolving new electronic submission standard.

Liquent has taken an active role in supporting the RPS standard through its participation in the testing phase and collaboration with clients. Liquent developed a utility that is able to convert the XML backbone of an eCTD submission into the RPS message format and is inviting others to join in the testing of this evolving standard.

"Regulated Product Submission is an evolving new electronic submissions standard that could eventually replace eCTD," said Jim Nichols, Liquent's vice president of product strategy and marketing. "The key to successfully adopting a new standard is to exercise various scenarios via testing. By providing real-world user testing and industry collaboration, we are laying the foundation for the next big standard in regulatory submissions."

The RPS standard creates a framework for sponsors to send regulatory information using predefined parameters to identify and catalog their content, allowing reviewers to locate discipline-specific information consistently. With the same model for all product types to all regulatory authorities, the RPS standard could be used worldwide for any regulated products, including foods, medical devices, human therapeutics, and veterinary medicine.
