Microsoft has identified three top trends that are creating significant global growth opportunities through their impact on today's high-tech and electronics industry:

-- Power shift to consumers. As consumers become increasingly more active participants in the high-tech value chain, they also expect to contribute to product and technology innovation. High-tech and electronics organizations need to take advantage of digital marketing and Web 2.0 capabilities to proactively engage with and listen to the feedback from their consumer communities.

-- Digital convergence. As the worlds of entertainment, computing and communications go digital, they can be combined to create exciting new products, services and business opportunities for the high-tech and electronics industry where information can be accessed any time, any place and on any device. Enhancing the overall customer experience is critical to success.

-- Emerging economies. The industry is feeling the increasing influence of emerging economies and their consumers. As a result, "one size fits all" no longer works to meet unique local consumer needs and demands. Companies need global scale to compete, but must be able to execute locally. They must be agile to respond to the changing needs in widely differing markets worldwide and must achieve "profitable proximity" by developing capabilities to observe and serve the unique local needs.

"Globalization, shrinking product life cycles and digital convergence have made high-tech value chains and markets far more dynamic," said Sanjay Ravi, worldwide managing director, High-Tech and Electronics Industry at Microsoft. "Business process innovation is key to enabling high-tech and electronics companies to achieve competitive success by maximizing their performance across borders. Together with our partners, we have developed solutions that can help them optimize their global value networks, effectively manage the innovation process, drive customer and consumer centricity, and improve operational efficiency with innovative, familiar and easy-to-use solutions."

Microsoft Asia High Tech Industry Summit presentations will focus on a wide range of critical success factors as well as real-life examples from leading customers in the high-tech industry. The topics will cover innovation process management; sales, marketing and service effectiveness; supply chain visibility and collaboration; manufacturing operations; and enterprise performance.
