More Than 40 Outstanding Solutions / Applications Accorded at SiTF Awards 2013

An ICM (Information, Communications and Media) industry driven Awards

SINGAPORE, Oct. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thursday, 10 October 2013, at the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation's (SiTF) Awards Ceremony and ICT Industry Gala Dinner, the Federation recognized more than 40 innovative solutions across 11 categories which included best start-up, cloud solution, digital media, e-government, infocomm productivity, student innovations, and more. That night also marked the birth of The Portal, an online productivity platform.

SiTF Awards, running in its 5th year, is a platform that gives companies an opportunity to showcase their solutions and receive professional feedback. It has grown stronger over years, from 70 nominations till today, more than 290 submission.

"SiTF Awards is not just another Awards in Singapore. We have mobilised more than 70 senior executives and veterans, in the ICM industry to judge over 6 days to select the top notch innovative submissions," said Shirley Wong, Chairman of SiTF & Organising Chairman of SiTF Awards 2013.

Nanoveu Pte Ltd garnered the evening's top honour, the Judges' Choice award, as well as the top spots in the Emerging Technology and Start-up categories. Nanoveu makes EyeFly3D, a thin flexible screen protector which, when affixed to a high resolution mobile display turns a 2D device into a glasses-free 3D viewing platform.

"It was a very good night for Nanoveu. Eyefly3D demonstrates how we can turn innovative research into products that benefit consumers. The win is also a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of a commercial entity working with A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) scientists in turning lab research into a viable consumer product," said Alfred Chong, CEO and Founder of Nanoveu.

There is a new category for Most Popular Mobile Apps in this year's contest. The objective is to help in raising awareness of locally developed apps. 20 mobile apps were up for public SMS voting. This contest received more than 47,000 votes, and the MyTransport.SG app from the Land Transport Authority proved most popular. The app offers a wide range of information for all modes of land transport, empowering commuters, motorists and cyclists in Singapore to make informed decisions and better plan their journey.

"Increasingly people turn to mobile apps to manage various aspects of their lives, and we feel honoured to be recognized as the most popular mobile app in Singapore. By profiling and recognizing useful and creative apps, SiTF helps to strengthen the culture of innovation in Singapore," said Mr Chew Hock Yong, Chief Executive of the Land Transport Authority. 

While winners have been announced at the Award, a special online platform targeted in providing informative contents and tool kits to aid companies' to improve productivity was launched. The Portal (www.theportal.sg), simple and easy to remember name, would become the must visit online channel for all productivity required news. The Portal is a project of SiTF together with Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore
