EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, Nov. 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Today marks NXP Software's 5th birthday. Since 2003, the company has established itself as the leading software provider for mobile multimedia, bringing vibrant experiences to millions of consumers. Its LifeVibes(TM) software now powers multimedia applications in more than 500 million mobile handsets worldwide, having over 250 design-ins on phone models from major OEMs.

Originally part of Royal Philips Electronics, NXP Software is now an established company employing over 200 people. It has offices in 10 locations worldwide, R&D centers in Europe and Asia, and local sales & support offices close to major device makers.

Some highlights along the way:

- 2003 - First integration of LifeVibes Voice software solutions in

commercial handsets; LifeVibes VoiceClarity launched by a major OEM.

- 2004 - Introduction of LifeVibes Video solutions for playback, record

and editing, helping drive penetration of video features from less than

20% in 2003 to over 60% of all handsets today.

- 2005 - NXP Software demonstrates its complete LifeVibes multimedia

software solution, successfully deployed on the 3GSM2005 'handset of

the year' award winner.

- 2006 - Introduction of LifeVibes MusicPlayer; offering full mobile mp3

player capabilities for playback, downloading and streaming music, with

easy navigation. This software solution significantly reduces the Bill

of Material (BOM) of devices.

- 2007 - LifeVibes SportsDJ introduced (matching music to your work-out

rhythm); attracts extensive industry attention and a nomination for a

Meffy award in 2008

- 2008 - Successful introduction at Mobile World Congress 2008 of

LifeVibes MixDJ, bringing seamless professional DJ-style mixing to

Mobile devices and LifeVibes VideoArtist, enabling 'one-click' video

editing on mobile phones.

NXP Software focuses on end-user device markets with high growth potential and has expanded significantly in the last 3 years. In 2006, its software was implemented in 100 million devices. This figure grew to 250 million in 2007, before reaching 500 million in 2008. Today, its LifeVibes software lets people capture, edit, manage, share and enjoy multimedia on handsets in all market segments: entry-level, feature and smart phones.
