New Brand of Wine Experience, Simply Italian - Great Wines Asia Tour will be Held on November 22nd

 SHANGHAI, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Simply Italian Great Wines – the new brand of wine event from IEM and SIEC, who brought you the Grandi Marchi and Vinitaly China events, will arrive in Shanghai on November 22nd for a day crammed full of Italian wine tasting.

The event, which will be the first leg of the Simply Italian Great Wines Asia Tour before Seoul and Tokyo, will be held at the Le Meridien Hotel (789 East Nanjing Road) from 12:00 to 17.30. The day will start with a seminar hosted by Denis Lin in which he will present a selection of Italian wines of the exhibiting companies paired with Chinese food. This is the perfect opportunity for those who want to get a better understanding of how vast a selection of wines are produced in Italy and the various different regions. Denis will also be holding a second seminar at 3.30pm.

Visitors to the walk-around tasting, which opens at 1.30pm, will have the opportunity to taste wines from over 30 different wineries from all across Italy including Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli, Lazio, Trentino Alto Adige and Sicily.

Wines from Friuli - It is said that Friuli is responsible for some of the best quality white wines in Italy and visitors are sure to discover a vast array at Simply Italian Great Wines. Five producers from this region will be present with their wines showing the best of the wines from the North East of Italy. 

Franciacorta - President of Federdoc, the federation of DOC and DOCG safeguard consortiums, Riccardo Ricci Curbastro will be present with his own winery from Franciacorta which makes some stunning sparkling wines. Franciacorta is one of Italy's most important regions for the production of high quality sparkling wine and has been earning itself a unique reputation around the globe. 

Piedmont - Perhaps one of the most well known Italian regions for wine production, the tastes of Piedmont will be present at Simply Italian through the participation of six different wineries which make some of the most well known red wines in Italy such as Barolo and Barbaresco. Also, perfect for the holiday season is the Moscato d'Asti, sweet wine.

Veneto - The region in Italy which produces the most wine, Veneto has sparkling, still, red and white wines including the very popular white sparkling wine Prosecco presented by Piera Martelozzo and Bisol. The well loved red wine from the Veneto region, made of dried grapes giving it great alcohol levels, complexity and body, is the Amarone which visitors can try at the Valentina Cubi table. This region, the Valpolicella, to the North of the city of Verona in the Veneto region has a great wine-making tradition and makes wines which are very unique: Amarone, Recioto and Ripasso.
