Building on Strong China Presence and Infrastructure

Global Sources Chairman and CEO, Merle A. Hinrichs, said: "These new shows are important steps in our strategy to expand our presence in China's domestic B2B market. They extend the China Sourcing Fair brand and the Fashion Accessories and Baby & Children's Products export channels to the China domestic market.

"These initiatives are a natural extension for us and build on our export-focused online marketplaces, magazines and shows in these categories. Plus, we will leverage our sales organization, customers, content and China infrastructure to develop these categories to their fullest potential. Our goal is to help existing customers and other suppliers sell to volume buyers in the fastest-growing economy in the world.

Location Offers Great Potential

"Shanghai is the ideal location, with a population of over 18 million people and more than 100 million consumers in the surrounding area. As the home of China's fashion industry, Shanghai is known as the 'Paris of the East.' In addition, it is headquarters for more than 300 international buying offices plus thousands of domestic buying offices.

"The Fashion Accessories show will build on its established base and growing success in Hong Kong. Baby & Children's Products also offers suppliers a tremendous market opportunity, as 27 percent of China's 1.3 billion people are 14 or younger."
