An industry first in China, the PR Newswire China Multimedia Communications Awards 2012 were hosted by PR Newswire and co-organized by Imagine China and TFM&A China. With more than 50 organizations submitting entries from when nominations were first sought in July, 2012, this year's jury members included Ninan Chacko (CEO, PR Newswire), Jerome Lacrosniere (Founder and Managing Director of Imagine China), Xu Jin (Partner of China & CEO, Lintas China Co.Ltd.) and Feng Bingqi (Ph.D. Associate Professor of the Communications University of China). Aside from the sought-after PMCA trophy, the winners could also see their winning submissions displayed on the Reuters' Billboard in Times Square, New York.

The esteemed Grand Award 2012 winners were Air China and Lushan Tourism Co., Ltd.; while the Best Integrated Multimedia Communications Award went to Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd., LEGO China, Tourism Australia, 3M China Ltd. and Western China International Fair. Other winners included those recognized for Best Communications with Photos, Outstanding Multimedia Communications and Best Multimedia Communications Platform.

Air China and Lushan Tourism Co., Ltd. – the Grand Award winners – are perfect examples of how Chinese organizations are now practicing global communications while also using multimedia content to achieve their messaging objectives. Both winners were chosen for their effective and consistent use of high quality photos and videos in their press releases, which are seamlessly distributed to traditional media, websites, social media and key influencers around the globe.

Anthea Wang, a key initiator of the Mercedes-Benz Star Fund, Vice-President of Daimler Northeast Asia Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd., said, when receiving her award for Best Integrated Multimedia Communications, "Mercedes-Benz leverages the best digital integrated communications to support Mercedes-Benz's CSR initiatives, including the Star Fund. This integrated approach through a selection of diversified channels not only enhances the strategic development and brand value of Mercedes-Benz's CSR programs, but also influences more and more social groups who identify with and participate in Mercedes-Benz's CSR programs."

Yujie Chen, Managing Director of PR Newswire China, said, "PMCA aims to highlight the very best in multimedia communications in China. This then provides a platform for marketing and communications professionals to come together to share best practices and ideas regarding the use of multimedia content.

"The success of PMCA 2012 is testament to how important multimedia communications in China are now becoming, and we will continue to focus on helping organizations better integrate their content and marketing strategies. And, while we recognize the need for Chinese organizations to expand their use of multimedia communications, the same also applies to foreign organizations looking to make an impact in China. These are exciting times for our industry and we are thoroughly excited by its potential," concluded Chen.
