Promoting Green Energy Application with Huawei's Widely-Recognized Hybrid Solar Power Supply Solution

2013-10-18 14:07 1719

DAEGU, South Korea, Oct. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, showcased its hybrid solar power supply solution, at the 22nd World Energy Congress (WEC) in Daegu, South Korea. This solution applies to power shortage areas. It uses photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert solar energy into electricity, promoting the application of green energy and attracting wide attention.

With economic development, social progress, and the increasing scarcity of traditional energy sources, the usage of green energy sources has become an urgent need facing the society. As a clean and renewable energy, solar energy has been favored by an increasing number of people. The South Korean government strongly encourages the development of renewable energy sources including solar energy, and focuses on renewable energy efficiency improvements, in order to gradually reduce the fossil energy applications.

Over the past ten years, Huawei has been pioneering the technological innovation in the energy industry. Huawei's green energy solutions have been widely applied in thousands of sites, contributing to energy conservation and low-carbon activities for global customers, including China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak), Sotelma in Mali, and Ncell in Nepal.

Huawei's PowerCube is a new-generation hybrid solar power supply solution. This solution leverages latest energy-saving and transmission technologies to offer highly efficient, stable, and eco-friendly power supply for wireless stations, schools, businesses, and government agencies.

This solution uses the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique to improve the solar conversion efficiency to 98.5%, and maximizes the hybrid usage of solar energy, diesel, and grid energy, and significantly reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO).

According to Mr. Xu Guoliang, a marketing manager from Huawei's energy and infrastructure product line, this solution reduces fuel consumptions by 40% to 60% and carbon emissions by approximately 50,000 kg for a single site.

This solution also applies to oil and gas pipeline security scenarios. Oil and gas pipelines deployed in remote areas are confronting numerous security risks. To secure these pipelines, energy companies tend to deploy video surveillance, intrusion detection, and leakage prevention systems that require stable power supply. Huawei's PowerCube solution can stably power cameras, codec devices, and switches along the pipelines with at least 72-hour electricity backup. Besides, PowerCube can be remotely managed, which greatly reduces operation and maintenance costs.

Huawei's booth attracted global energy customers and partners, including President of Nigerian Solar Promotion Committee and President of Mestres & Servicos (an IT device integrator in the energy industry from Angola).
