RICS Global RE Weekly: Pressure Grows to Reverse Recent Rate Hike in Korea

HONG KONG, Oct. 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The Bank of Korea meets on Thursday 9th for the first time since it lifted base rates to a seven and a half year high of 5.25% in August. Industrial output fell a monthly 2.2% in August, taking the year-on-year gain back below 2% for the first time since the latter part of last year.

Australian housing finance to head lower on turmoil

Housing finance figures will be in the spotlight next week with the release of the latest data on Wednesday 8th. In a month that has seen the near seizure of the global banking system, appetite for housing finance is likely to wane further particularly in the light of the softening in house price which has been observed in recent months.

French housing market to outperform Spain

Official French house price data for Q2 is due on Monday 6th. French house price growth peaked at 15.9% in Q4 2004, but has since eased to 4.2% according to the latest data.

House price inflation to continue slowing in Canada

The August data on new home prices in Canada is due out on Friday 10th. This is likely to show a continuation of the softening trend in the market.
