Sales performance revives to the levels seen before the financial tsunami
HONG KONG, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" together with its subsidiaries referred to as the "Group" HKSE: 02618) today announced the Group's unaudited handsets and accessories shipment data for December and the full year of 2009.
The Group's total handsets and accessories shipments in December hit a monthly high for 2009 for the third consecutive month and reached 2,613,392 units, representing a substantial increase of 195% over the same period of 2008 and an increase of 20% over November in 2009. The Group achieved remarkable sales growth in both of China and overseas markets in December. Shipments in China soared by 213% over the same period of 2008 to 570,921 units, while shipments to overseas markets advanced by 191% over the same period of 2008 to 2,042,471 units. In 2009, the Group sold a total of 16,122,791 units of handsets and accessories, an increase of 18% over 2008.
The above figures clearly demonstrate that sales performance of the Group has revived to the levels seen before the financial tsunami. During the beginning of last year, the Group took various measures to enhance its operating efficiency and competitiveness and has achieved prominent results. It captured the business opportunities brought about by the global economic recovery and the shift in market demand and strived for orders through enlarging and deepening cooperation with major operators. As a result, it gained a rapid growth in business. Management believes that the Group's business will further improve following the launch of a series of mid to high-end handsets.
