SANYA, China, July 29 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- On July 11 2008, Sheraton Sanya Resort and Sanya Aviation & Tourism College signed the agreement of Starwood "Power of People" Class Hainan Island (POP) at Caribbean & Caspian meeting room. This is to create an excellent Starwood Hotels & Resorts talent pool for the Hainan and China Region and to accelerate Hainan Tourism & Hospitality Industry development.

POP students are developed mainly as baseline and supervisory personnel for Food & Beverage, Rooms, and Engineering & Security departments, upon completion of the POP program. According to this agreement, 300-600 students are confirmed from 2007 intake and 500-900 students are confirmed each year starting from 2008 intake onwards as POP students.
Human Resources department of Sheraton Sanya Resort will create a personal development profile named "Building Your Future" for each POP student. This personal profile is a necessary and vital reference for further career development in Starwood. POP students must complete all the main subjects learning and to be certified by college, plus the Starwood Training Certificate from Sheraton Sanya Resort, which would be recognized by other Starwood properties upon Resort's recommendation, and will have the priority to apply for an inter-company transfer or to be promoted to another Starwood property, according to their performance and position availability.
