"Today marks a very auspicious occasion for Sheraton and Shunde, my team and I are so thrilled to be opening the doors to the first international Sheraton hotel here in Shunde," said Chris Tsoi, the General Manager of Sheraton Shunde Hotel, "We are perfectly located in the new city center of Shunde, surrounded by beautiful lush greenery, together with the park and the river right on our doorstep. We have the largest ballroom and meeting facility in Shunde and being in a place famed for its food, home appliances and furniture industries, we aim to bring out the best from the local environment and wholly integrate our international Sheraton culture by introducing to our guests a new level of service and experience." Chris added.

The Sheraton Shunde Hotel's opening celebrations also includes welcoming its first guest -- Mr Peter Widen, Senior Director (Product Commercialization) of Electrolux (China) Home Appliances Company Limited today. Mr Widen will benefit from a lifetime upgrade to the next category of room reserved, and complimentary access to Executive Floor Club facilities every time he stays at Sheraton Shunde Hotel. The Hotel is also offering double points to all Starwood Preferred Guest members paying qualified rates from August 15 to October 14, 2009.

In conjunction with the opening of the hotel, the team at Sheraton Shunde Hotel also took the chance to connect with the local community by inviting the local senior citizens of Shunde city to a celebration dinner.

In addition, the Hotel is introducing Sheraton brand's signature 'Link@Sheraton(TM)' to its guests. The Link -- provides a stylishly designed communal area in the heart of the hotel lobby. This unique virtual and physical lobby lounge space enables guests to work, relax and remain connected with friends and family during travels.

For work-outs or relaxation, the Sheraton Fitness operates 24 hours and offers themed workout programs that provide all the facilities for business travelers on the go. The semi-indoor heated swimming pool is perfect for laps or lounging, and the soon-to-open Spa will be the ideal retreat for revitalizing.

Located just next to the Desheng River in the new business development city center of Shunde, the Sheraton Shunde Hotel is within a 10-minute drive to retail shopping and restaurants, exhibition and performing art centers, as well as government buildings. Being in the center of the Pearl River Delta means it takes only 45 minutes to drive to Guangzhou, and it is a two-hour drive to Shenzhen, with easy ferry, road or rail access to Hong Kong and Macau.

Sheraton Shunde Hotel's Interior Designer John Chan, from John Chan Design Company Limited based in Hong Kong, conceptualized Sheraton Shunde Hotel's design around a garden theme given the lush green environs of the hotel. The Ficus tree and its branches are a dominant graphic and pattern throughout the hotel, whilst the colour scheme is mainly evolved around spring and autumn tones. Guests entering the Hotel will feel as they are continuing their walk from the river park outside.

With 385 guest rooms and suites, many with balconies, overlooking lush gardens or tranquil river views, business or leisure travelers can enjoy all the famous Sheraton comforts including the signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, a separate bathtub and 'rainforest' shower, and a Sheraton coffee maker. Other features include large windows, comfortable work space with a 37-inch LCD television and broadband access.
