Sales volume in overseas markets soars about 3.9 times year-on-year
HONG KONG, June 18 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries referred to as the "Group"; HKSE: 02618) today announced that the Group's unaudited handsets and accessories sales volume data for May and the first five months in 2010.
Sales performance of the Group's handsets and accessories operations continued to excel in May. Total sales volume increased remarkably by 268% year-on-year to 2,766,054 units in May. Sales volume of overseas markets soared 392% to 2,488,350 units from a year ago and accounted for approximately 90% of total sales volume of the Group. In the first five months, sales performance of its handsets and accessories was very outstanding, with total volume up 180% year-on-year to 11,300,200 units. Sales volume in overseas markets significantly increased by 226% from the same period of last year and was the key driver of the robust growth of its businesses.
The Group will continue to strengthen its strategic cooperation with major mobile operators around the world and to enhance efforts in developing the Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) business in order to get more orders and further improve operating performance. While steadily expanding the low-end business, it will also prudently explore mid to high-end product operations. In the second half of this year, the Group will launch a series of new handsets. Customers will be able to enjoy a new mobile communications experience.
