HONG KONG, Feb. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" which, together with its subsidiaries and its affiliates, is referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 2618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products in January 2016.
The Group's total sales volume of handsets and other products totalled 5,775,000 units in January 2016. Sales volume of handsets and other products in overseas markets increased by 12% year-on-year to 5,132,000 units, while shipments in China market totalled 643,000 units. Sales volume of smart devices totalled 3,535,000 units, and accounted for 61% of the Group's total shipment for the month.
In early January, the Group's 8-inch tablet, PIXI 3 (8) was showcased as the Group's first tablet with Windows 10 Mobile operating system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 held in Las Vegas, USA. The new tablet offers outstanding features, including ultra-fast 4G LTE download, easy apps management through multiple windows and GPS, and caught audiences' attention at CES 2016. It was also named "2016 CES Top Pick" by Windows Central, a well known information website for Windows products.
Meanwhile, the Group's innovative 17.3-inch Big Pad Xess was also presented at CES 2016. The product aims at integrating the new home living model with the scene-oriented content platform, and was well received by the market. It also won the "Best of CES 2016" accolade awarded by Android Authority, a famous Android product information website.
On top of that, the Group's flagship handset IDOL 3 has been awarded top honours from influential websites, including Android Authority, Android Central, Know Your Mobile and Mashable, since its debut in early 2015. It also received the "GOOD DESIGN Award" from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. In early 2016, IDOL 3 won the world-renowned "iF Design Award 2016". The above acclaims not only demonstrated the Group's achievement in innovation, but also asserted its integrated capability as a global leading manufacturer of smart devices.
As the world's sole official electrical appliances sponsor of the Chinese action adventure film, Mojin: The Lost Legend, the Group specially released four new limited edition products last December to support the promotion of the movie. In the same month, to promote smartphone TCL Joy 2C, the Group partnered with Didi Dache to launch an mobile online game "Gold Hunting with Didi & Mojin: The Lost Legend" offering the smartphone as a lucky draw prize. The promotion received an overwhelming response from the participants, and has further strengthened the influence of the Group's brand.
