HONG KONG, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TUV Rheinland Greater China and Tencent have cooperated to provide conformity certification for Bluetooth-based wearable devices. In August, WeChat of Tencent officially announced that it had added new equipment functions to the WeChat public platform to support smart wearable devices, and support for other hardware products will also be added. TUV Rheinland, which has preciously launched the world's first wearable device certification standard, thus became one of WeChat's first batch of partners in equipment function testing and certification. The first batch of products that have successfully passed conformity certification includes the Huawei TalkBand B1smart watch, the Codoon HB-B021 Bluetooth 4.0 smart bracelet 2, and the iHealth AM3 smart wristwatch from iHealth in Silicon Valley. The AM3 has become a hit in Europe and the Americas.
Currently WeChat equipment supports Bluetooth 2.X, 3.X, and 4.0 as well as Wi-Fi and mobile networking. Information shows that only a WeChat qualified and name-authenticated service account (with a "v") can apply for activation of the "function" module. After reviewing and approving the basic data submitted by vendors, WeChat will issue an interface document and test equipment QR code for them to develop and debug the products. After debugging and before an official launch, the equipment must receive technical certification by a Wechat designated third party service provider and experience certification from WeChat. After this, vendors can apply for the QR code for other equipment needed for official mass production.
WeChat has always wanted to create the ability to connect everything, and hardware connectivity is an essential part of their current strategy. The smart interface ability from WeChat enables more hardware manufacturers to connect with WeChat. This will allow WeChat to sync, manage and integrate data from wearable devices from different suppliers to connect with the WeChat social networking service. New Smart wearable devices such As The Apple Watch, Google Glass, the Samsung GalaxyGear smart watch, BaiduEye and the Kid's Bracelet from 360, are arriving in leaps and bounds. As more and more enterprises enter the wearable device industry, there is a growing need for product improvement in terms of safety, performance, interoperability, and durability.
TUV Rheinland launched the world's first wearable device certification standard in July to support its rapid development. It is expected that many wearable devices will seamlessly fuse with the daily life of the consumer and TUV Rheinland certifies the devices from safety, smart, and wearability aspects. By connecting wearables, such as smart watches and health bracelets, to the WeChat platform, users can significantly enhance their sociability. Wearable devices may even replace some functions that have been previously confined to the Smartphone, such as time, weather reports, health and exercise capacity monitoring, and even the smart home control center. Wearable devices can be directly connected to WeChat with Bluetooth and all data will be synced directly without the need for programs of any kind. Wearable devices of all brands can share the same WeChat platform. This platform can also promote healthy and sustainable development of the wearable device industry.
