TechFaith to Showcase Broader Line-Up at 2012 GSMA Mobile World Congress

BEIJING, February 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology Limited (NASDAQ: CNTF) ("TechFaith" or the Company) today announced it would have an increased presence at the prominent 2012 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from 27 February to 1st March 2012. TechFaith plans to showcase a variety of new mobile phones with somatic gaming controller functions, alongside its existing range of GSM, WCDMA, CDMA models and somatic games. The Company will be located in Hall 2, booth 2J21.

According to the latest Wireless Intelligence data, China ended 2011 on 973.7 million mobile connections, up about 16 percent year-on-year, fuelled by growth in 3G which will soon account for a quarter of the country's connections. The number of 3G connections surpassed 200 million in Q4 2011 and accounted for 22 percent of the total at year-end. Market penetration is estimated at 72 percent, up almost 10 percent from a year ago.

For the Android ginger bread platform, TechFaith plans to feature the following models: Titan, an IP67 certified HSPA rugged smart phone, which is water proof, shock proof and dust proof; Q-phone, a 5.0 inch HSPA smartphone that boasts rich entertainment functions, and can be used as a mini-pad; Tracker, a 4.3 inch HSPA smartphone supporting dual sim cards enabling dual sim standby; and Eagle, a stylish 3.8 inch HSPA smart phone with popular features such as WIFI, A-GPS, compass, dual camera and more.

For the somatic gaming business, TechFaith plans to feature its 17Vee somatic gaming platform technology and products. These products include somatic capable mobile phones, somatic gaming controllers, deliver a power experience by letting gamers feel the action. Applications will also be featured that can convert Android smartphones into somatic gaming controllers.
