KUNMING, China, April 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Organized by the China Entrepreneur Club and co-organized by the Kunming Municipal People's Government, the Annual Summit of Green Companies 2013, the event for sustainable business development, was successfully held in Kunming.
Themed "Rethinking Business and Sustained Growth," the summit featured many ideas on topics that included: economic reform, urbanization, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and business ethics. More than 800 representatives from the government, businesses, educational organizations, NGOs, and the media, coming from both China and abroad participated the event.
"The 'green' in the Annual Summit of Green Companies is not a general concept of a green environment, but a concept of 'big green,' which considers the contributions that businesses brings to society and people, including trading in good faith and sustainable development of companies," said Liu Chuanzhi, Chairman of the CEC and Legend Holdings, in the keynote speech.
"It has a significant meaning, in that some of the top entrepreneurs came to look forward and discuss the future of China's economy. These entrepreneurs were participants and active advocates of China's reform and opening up to the global economy. From them we can listen and learn lessons about realizing Chinese dream," said Long Yongtu, member of the International Advisory Committee of the Bo'ao Forum for Asia, at the opening ceremony.

The 2013 Summit was a further discussion on the green development concept, extending exploration of the green development approach and vision of the prospects for green development," said Qiu He, the Deputy Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial CPC Committee.
Then moderators Liu Chuanzhi, Johan Bjorksten, Zhou Qiren, Liu Jiren, Ma Weihua, and Wang Shi hosted sessions entitled: "Reform Divided Calls for Champions of a New Economy," "Maximizing ROI on Cross-border M&A," "Urbanization: Opportunities and Challenges," "The Future of 'Made-in-China," "Opportunities and Challenges in the Globalization of Capital," and "Beautiful Businesses" respectively, and were involved in numerous discussions with panelists.
At the summit, Wang Jianlin, Michael Yu, and Jack Ma respectively launched three mentor forums, themed "transformation," "startups," and "the future of commerce," and also shared ideological values and interacted with representatives.
The Annual Summit of Green Companies 2013 continued the tradition of cooperation with the Lao Niu Foundation. 66 mu-carbon sequestration forests will be planted in Inner Mongolia by the China Green Carbon Foundation, to offset carbon emissions from transportation, accommodation, food and beverage production, and other aspects of the event.
The Summit was supported by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, the China Enterprise Confederation, the China Enterprise Directors Association, and the United Nations Global Compact. As the chief industrial partner, BMW provided eight Active Hybrid 7-Series autos as the official vehicles.
The day before the Summit, an earthquake occurred in Ya'an, Sichuan Province. In the opening ceremony, Liu Chuanzhi, Wang Shi, Feng Lun, Deng Feng, and Liu Donghua offered their respects and sympathies to the victims on behalf of various organizations, including the China Entrepreneur Club, the One Foundation, the SEE Foundation, WRSA 2005 Committee, and Zhisland. According to as yet incomplete statistics, the member companies of these organizations have donated funds and goods worth more than 100 million yuan to the relief fund.
